The current version was updated in 2023 and includes guidance for using Cabotegravir (Apretude®) long-acting injectable PrEP.

This 5-page PrEP Quick Clinical Guide was born out of a collaboration between Bay Area clinicians who wanted a clear, brief guide to prescribing and safely supporting someone taking PrEP, the medication that prevents HIV acquisition for people who are HIV-negative. It has been reviewed by PrEP experts throughout California.

For anyone presenting with an HIV exposure within the last 3 days, please offer PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis): ebgtz.org/resource/pep-quick-clinical-guide/

This guide is updated regularly with rapidly evolving research and clinical guidance, new medications and coverage options. We will post updated versions to this link.
