This one-day, in-person, interactive training focuses on defining trauma, examining the impact of trauma on people living with HIV, and considers the components of a trauma-informed care approach for HIV care and prevention providers. The training will describe strategies that consider the experience of trauma and build on resilience and empathic understanding to engage and motivate clients to better health outcomes and healing.

Objectives:
•Define trauma and a trauma-informed approach to apply to working with people with HIV.
•Increase knowledge of the connection between HIV and trauma.
•Increase knowledge of the principles of a trauma-informed care approach.
•Build skills in using strategies to reduce trauma and highlight resilience for people with HIV.
•Increase knowledge of strategies to respond to vicarious trauma for providers to work more effectively with patients and clients with HIV.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Please register by February 19, 2024 to ensure we have an accurate participant count prior to the event.
