Pacific AETC – Bay Area, North & Central Coast and EBGTZ is excited to announce an upcoming training on Supporting people using substances: a skill-building workshop to be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 2-4 pm via Zoom. Katie O’Bryant and Ale Del Pinal at Punks with Lunch in collaboration with Michaella Jones at HIV Education and Prevention Project of Alameda County (HEPPAC) will be leading this interactive workshop.

Please register here.

This workshop will focus on building practical skills for East Bay HIV frontline teams in supporting people using substances who are not ready or able to participate in substance use treatment programs.  In this session, we will practice engaging with our adult and younger clients through discussion of real-world cases. The goal is to determine how we can best work with these clients who are actively using substances, including methamphetamines, benzodiazepines and alcohol.

Learning Objectives:

∙            Identify at least two skills to engage young people using substances.

∙            Describe harm reduction strategies for people using methamphetamine.

∙            Share best practices in supporting people using substances.

We hope to see you there! If you experience issues registering, please reach out to Jessica Price: jessica.price@ucsf.edu
