When we pursue “helper” professions, we are often exposed to the trauma of the people and communities we serve. This workshop will discuss what happens in the brain when helping professionals experience secondary trauma at their jobs. In addition, the workshop will explore evidence-based practices that support recovery from vicarious trauma including the importance of safety.
