HIV Testing: Kaiser Foundation Health Plan members drop-in to any Kaiser Permanente lab to request an HIV test

Kaiser Permanente members may self-order STI testing and self-refer to our PrEP program through the Sexual Health E-visit at this link: select adult or child, scroll down to “sexual health,” click on STI/PrEP or PEP and click e-visit or phone call button. You can also use the Kaiser mobile app “online care,” select “e-visit,” and scroll down to select “sexual health.”

Kaiser Permanente members living with HIV or seeking HIV prevention services

Same-day access and availability:

Rapid ART (HIV treatment); HIV/STI testing

Core services:

Self-Referral HIV Antibody Testing:
Drop-in to any of our labs and request an HIV antibody test (blood test). Lab fee cost share may apply. Your doctor’s office will contact you with the result.

PrEP (preventive medications to protect against HIV infection):
Ask your doctor for a referral or call the HIV Health Educator at 510-752-6848 for more information or to get started on PrEP. Costs related to these services are based on your health plan coverage.

PEP (HIV post exposure treatment to prevent HIV infection):
Treatment with medication after a possible exposure to HIV to reduce the risk of becoming infected. Treatment must be started within 72 hours, but the sooner the better. If you are concerned about a possible exposure to HIV, call the Advice Nurse (1-866-454-8855), make a same day appointment (urgent care) or, if after hours, go to the emergency department.

HIV Care: a multidisciplinary clinic that provides ongoing specialized and primary care to Kaiser Permanente members living with HIV.
