On Ocbotber 19, 2021, EBGTZ in partnership with PAET and HEPPAC, held a skill-building workshop to support people who use substances.

  • Purpose and goals: This workshop will focus on building practical skills for East Bay HIV frontline teams in supporting people using substances who are not necessarily ready to or able to participate in substance use treatment programs.  In this session, we will practice engaging with our adult and younger clients through discussion of real-world cases. The goal is to determine how we can best work with these clients who are actively using substances, including methamphetamine; benzos; and EtOH.
  • Learning Objectives:
  • Identify at least two skills to engage young people using substances
  • Describe harm reduction strategies for people using methamphetamine
  • Share best practices in supporting people using substances
